W/R: Dormitory fire devastates Ahantaman Girls’ SHS
A devastating fire broke out at one of the dormitory blocks of Ahantaman Girls’ Senior High School in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region last Wednesday, July 17, while students were attending classes.
The incident left five students with all their belongings destroyed.
Charles Mintaba, Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA), confirmed the fire, attributing it to a suspected electrical fault.
“Trunks, beds, bed sheets, provisions, books, and other belongings of students, amounting to thousands of Ghana Cedis, have been completely burnt,” Mintaba stated.
The Ghana Fire Service personnel from Sekondi responded swiftly to extinguish the blaze. However, the loss has left many families struggling to replace essential items.
“We urge organizations, philanthropists, and individuals to assist the school and the affected students,” Mintaba appealed.
