10 perish in head-on collision on Obuasi-Dunkwa road
A gory accident has claimed 10 lives on the Obuasi-Dunkwa road in the Ashanti region.
The accident occurred on Monday, 29 June 2020 around 9:30 pm.
It occurred when a Sprinter Benz bus with registration number GT 3910 - 13, loaded with passengers from Dunkwa, collided head-on with a Ford bus with registration number GE58 - 13 loaded with passengers from Kumasi to Dunkwa.
DSP Joseph Okrah, the Obuasi MTTD commander, told Class News’ Elisha Adarkwah that six people, including the driver of the Ford bus, died on the spot while four others who were rushed to the AGA Hospital, died on arrival.
DSP Okrah advised drivers to be cautious on the road in this rainy season.
“Let me use this opportunity to advise road users, especially drivers: we’re in the rainy season and breaks generally are ineffective due to the slippery nature of the roads. So, my advice to the drivers is that they should be extra careful when they are driving. They should avoid speeding, unnecessary overtaking, drunk-driving and anything that has the potential to cause road accident so that lives will be saved".
