2000 hospitality staff learning French to enhance Ghana's tourism sector
As part of a comprehensive language training programme to enhance the country’s tourism sector, government has commenced skills training combined with the French language for some 2000 individuals within the country’s hospitality industry.
The training is geared towards making Ghana an attractive tourism destination in West Africa and hopefully within Africa.
According to the Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, the skills training combined with the French language will ensure effective communication and the provision of exceptional, personalised services to Francophone tourists to solidify the country’s commitment to foster an inclusive and culturally sensitive tourism industry.
He revealed that after the training in French, another language will be added which will be either Chinese or German, to make Ghana’s tourism sector a multilingual one that can attract tourists from all over the world.
He indicated that by the end of 2026 Ghana should have attracted 2million tourists from around the world.
Touching on the diverse sectors of tourism across the country, he revealed that his outfit is in talks with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to also encourage set up for school children to tour around the country.
This the Minister noted will enable students appreciate their culture.
