In the wake of the recent arson attack on Class Media Group (CMG), security expert Anthony Acquaye has urged employees of the company to prioritise their personal safety.

CMG, which operates several media outlets including Accra FM, Number One FM, Ho FM, Taadi FM, Dagbon FM, Class FM, Sunyani FM, Adehye FM and Kumasi FM, as well as CTV and Classfmonline.com, experienced an arson attack at its headquarters in the Labone area of Accra at Thursday dawn.

The incident involved four individuals riding on two motorbikes.

Speaking on Accra 100.5 FM's evening news on Thursday, April 25, 2024, Mr. Acquaye stressed the importance of vigilance among CMG staff, particularly in light of these attacks.

While he acknowledged that he was not privy to the specific security protocols in place at CMG, he emphasised the need for employees to take their security seriously.

Mr. Acquaye advocated a shift towards proactive security measures, suggesting the adoption of technologies such as keycard and fingerprint lock systems to control access to the building.

He contrasted this approach with reactionary security, where security personnel primarily respond to vulnerabilities as they arise.

According to Mr. Acquaye, prioritising personal security in such situations is crucial for ensuring overall safety.

He called on CMG management to implement proactive security monitoring strategies to mitigate potential risks and safeguard their employees and assets effectively.
