The Children Support Fund, established to support the children who lost their parents in the tragic August 6, 2025, helicopter crash, has received overwhelming backing from individuals and organisations across Ghana.

As of September 11, the fund has raised GHS 6,583,600.00 and US$20,000.00 in donations.

In a public update, Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, highlighted the outpouring of support received between September 1 and 11 as a powerful reflection of Ghana’s collective commitment to the welfare of the affected children.

“This fund represents a national pledge to ensure these young lives are not forgotten.

The support we’ve seen so far is a testament to the compassion and unity of our people,” said Dr. Sawyerr.

Major Contributors Step Forward

The most recent donation drive attracted generous contributions from both corporate Ghana and individual donors. Prominent institutions leading the charge include:

* NIB Ghana – leading insurance provider

* MTN Ghana – telecommunications giant

* Ghana Commercial Bank – premier national bank

* Keda Ghana Ceramics Limited – major manufacturer

* Chase Group Foundation – corporate philanthropic arm

* KGL Technology – tech industry supporter

Individual philanthropists have also stepped up, with notable donations from Cynthia Naa Odotey, Nana Victoria Akyaa Afriyie-Abrokwa, Kay Simmon, Charles Incoom, and media outlet Dela Radio.

Multiple Donation Channels Available

To encourage broad participation, the Children Support Fund has made donating accessible through various platforms. Contributions can be made through Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited at the Stanbic Heights Branch, Accra:

A Nation Responds to Tragedy

The helicopter crash on August 6 shook the country, leaving several children orphaned.

The creation of the Children Support Fund is a coordinated national effort to provide emotional, educational, and financial support for those affected.

Dr. Sawyerr’s office has emphasised transparency and accountability in the management of the fund.

All donations are tracked to ensure they directly benefit the children.

More Support Needed

While the current fundraising milestone is significant, the fund remains open for further contributions.

The long-term needs of the children—such as education, housing, and psychosocial support—require sustained assistance.

The continued success of the fund reflects the spirit of solidarity and shared responsibility that defines Ghana in times of crisis.

For more information or to donate, individuals and institutions are encouraged to contact the coordination office through the official channels provided by Dr. Valerie Sawyerr’s office.
