Dormaa Central MCE announces GHS500–GHS1,000 sanitation fines to promote cleanliness
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Dormaa Central, Mr. Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, has announced that individuals who flout sanitation by-laws in the municipality will henceforth be fined between GHS500 and GHS1,000.
According to the MCE, the new measure is aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness and generating additional funds to support the municipality’s sanitation initiatives.
He disclosed this during an interview with the media after leading the National Sanitation Day exercise in Dormaa-Ahenkro.
Mr. Adomah Ameyaw explained that the decision to impose fines was approved at the last General Assembly meeting of the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly, where members unanimously agreed that stricter enforcement of sanitation laws was necessary to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
“Even though the decision is tough, it is a good one because it will encourage residents to keep their surroundings clean while helping the Assembly raise funds to improve sanitation services,” he said.
The MCE further emphasised that a clean environment promotes good health, urging residents to actively participate in communal clean-up exercises and support the Assembly’s efforts to enhance sanitation standards.
He also commended the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, for his continuous support to the Assembly, particularly for providing sanitation equipment to aid waste management efforts.
Hon. Adomah Ameyaw reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to sustaining the National Sanitation Day initiative, describing it as an excellent platform to instill discipline and environmental consciousness among residents.
