The management of Fetteh Salt Industry Limited has accused some police officers of colluding with notorious land guards to harass and intimidate the company’s workers.

According to the directors, specific officers, including CID Senyo Ignatus, Divisional Crime Officer Supt. Owusu Dwomoh and Chief Inspector Kezia Bawre, have allegedly been acting as "puppets" for a notorious land guard named Kwesi Alhaji and his associates, Kofi Baah and Nii Bokorbokor.

In a petition copied to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and signed by Mr. Richard Ni Quaye Dzani, Secretary of Fetteh Salt Industry Limited, the company alleges that these police officers routinely carry out arbitrary arrests of company workers at the behest of the land guards. 

The company claims that the alleged collaboration between the officers and the land guards has created a culture of impunity, allowing the criminals to openly assault residents, demolish properties, seize lands, and fire gunshots without fear of repercussions.

The petition also cited a tragic incident where a military officer was allegedly assassinated in his car near the Millennium City Divisional Police Station, an act believed to be linked to the same land guard group.

Fetteh Salt Industry Limited further claimed that one of their directors, Mr. Ebo Kobina John, was severely assaulted and allegedly stripped naked at his residence by Kwesi Alhaji and his gang on September 5, 2020, after the company resisted the group's attempt to operate on their land. 

Despite reporting the incident to the Millennium City Police Station, the case, which was initially handled by Chief Inspector Kezia Bawre, has reportedly seen no progress, with the docket allegedly missing.

In another incident, the company revealed that they legally acquired and registered five pump-action guns with the Ghana Police Service to enhance security. 

However, just three days after the registration, Sergeant Francis Ahiaku reportedly arrested some of the company’s workers under the pretext of threatening one Bismark Opoku during a land transaction.

The company condemned the alleged misconduct of the officers, stressing that their actions have emboldened the land guards to continue their illegal activities with impunity.

The management of Fetteh Salt Industry Limited is calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and other relevant authorities to investigate the alleged collusion between the officers and the land guards to restore law and order in the Kasoa and Fetteh areas
