Former employees of BCM Ghana Limited have begun a picketing exercise at the company’s offices in the plush Labone area of Accra, protesting the non-payment of their redundancy allowances for more than ten months.

The aggrieved workers say they were laid off following changes in the company’s operations, but have yet to receive their legally mandated redundancy packages, despite repeated assurances from management led by Paul List.

According to the protesters, the prolonged delay has caused significant financial hardship, affecting their ability to meet basic needs and support their families.

Clad in red armbands and carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Pay Us What We Are Owed” and “Ten Months Is Too Long”, the former workers are demanding the immediate settlement of all outstanding payments.

They insist that the allowances are not a favour but a right guaranteed under Ghana’s labour laws.

The picketers are also calling on the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, as well as the National Labour Commission, to intervene and compel BCM Ghana Limited to honour its obligations.

As of the time of filing this report, management of BCM Ghana Limited had not publicly responded to the claims.

The protesters, however, say they will sustain the picketing until their demands are met.

BCM Ghana Limited operates in the mining sector and has previously undertaken workforce restructuring as part of broader operational adjustments.
