Kusasi elders, youth in Accra call for recognition of chief

Muhammad Ibrahim Sungtaaba, GAR Kusasi chief

The elders and youth wing of the Kusasis in the Greater Accra Region have appealed to members of the community to put aside their differences and rally behind the recognised chief, Muhammad Ibrahim Sungtaaba.

At a press conference, the group stressed that the traditional authority had already conferred legitimacy on Chief Ibrahim, a decision they described as final and binding.

According to the elders, attempts to challenge the process or sow division within the community could undermine the authority of traditional institutions.

They further emphasised the importance of unity, urging Kusasis in Accra and beyond to work together in strengthening communal ties.

“When we stand together as one people, we can better preserve our culture, resolve challenges peacefully, and build a stronger future,” they noted.

The youth wing added that unity and respect for traditional authority were essential to safeguarding the dignity of the Kusasi people.

They called on those with grievances to set them aside in the interest of peace and progress.

The press conference ended with a renewed pledge by the elders and youth to support Chief Muhammad Ibrahim Sungtaaba and to promote harmony among all Kusasis in the region.
