MOFA sets Nov. 8 as farmer's holiday
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) has announced that the 40th annual National Farmers' Day celebration will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024.
According to a press statement released on Saturday, October 26, President Akufo-Addo has confirmed the date, with Greater Accra Region set to host this year's event.
This year’s celebration will see a departure from regional observances, as the Ministry has decided against regional-level events.
Instead, each region will nominate winners for 10 award categories, who will then travel to Accra to receive their honours.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at 4:00 p.m. on November 8 at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge. Regional Ministers will be on hand to present awards to the honorees from their respective regions.
The Ministry has requested the attendance of all Regional Ministers along with their Regional Directors of Agriculture, emphasizing that their presence will contribute to recognizing the invaluable role farmers play in national development.
Regional Coordinating Councils will cover all costs for participation, the statement concluded.
