Tension is escalating in the Asogli State of the Volta Region, as a group of aggrieved queen-mothers calls for the immediate removal of Togbe Afiatsoa III, the Mankrado of Bankoe, accusing him of self-imposing as an overlord of the Asogli State.

In a peaceful demonstration on the main streets of Ho Friday morning, the Queen mothers, dressed in red and singing traditional war songs, marched to the Asogli State Council to formally present their petition for the Mankrado's removal.

They handed the petition to Mr. Stephen Tettey, Secretary to Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State.

The Queen mothers allege that Togbe Afiatsoa III has cast curses on the paramount Queen mother of the Asogli State, Mamaga Akua Dei, invoking the deities of the land against her.

They further claim that the Mankrado has prohibited his linguists and local residents from participating in events organized by the Asogli State, a move they consider disrespectful and divisive.

“We find these actions worrying and unbecoming of a chief,” stated the Queen mothers, who appealed directly to the Agbogbomefia, Togbe Afede XIV, to act decisively by removing the Mankrado.

They warned that if their concerns go unaddressed, they may stop attending gatherings of the Asogli State Council.

The petition was delivered by Mama Bobi III, Afetor Nyornufia of Bankoe, on behalf of the Queen mothers.

In response, Mr. Stephen Tettey, the Agbogbomefia’s Secretary, received the petition and assured them that it would be forwarded to Togbe Afede XIV before the day’s end.
