Omane Boamah tours military facilities

The Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has expressed his appreciation for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) following his maiden visit to the General Headquarters on Monday, February 10.
As part of the visit, he had the honour of inspecting a Guard of Honour mounted by the Ghana Navy.
The visit also provided an opportunity for him to engage in critical discussions on the welfare of military personnel and assess key infrastructural projects within the armed forces.
Dr Boamah highlighted the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, to addressing the pressing needs of the military.
While he was immersed in matters concerning the welfare and motivation of service personnel, military engineers were in the Asuokow community of the Eastern Region, assessing the river that schoolchildren dangerously cross daily.
He commended the Military High Command, led by Chief of Defence Staff General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, for their warm reception and the open discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing the GAF, including the issue of outstanding debts.
During his official tour, the Defence Minister visited the Army, Naval, and Air Force Headquarters, where he interacted with senior officers, uniformed personnel, and civilian employees.
He also toured several project sites, including New Duala, Arakan, the Ordnance Units and Band sites, as well as the Ghana Military Academy.
He observed several stalled and uncompleted projects, some dating back 15 years, alongside numerous dilapidated homes in need of urgent renovation.
Dr Boamah stressed the need for immediate intervention to complete these critical projects and accelerate ongoing impactful developments.
He assured military personnel that his ministry, through a series of planned field visits, would continue to assess both internal and external operations of the armed forces.
