President Mahama to launch 'Feed Ghana Programme' in Techiman

President John Dramani Mahama, through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, is set to launch the Feed Ghana Programme on April 11 in Techiman, the Bono East regional capital.
The initiative aims to bolster food security and reduce the country’s dependence on imported food products.
It forms part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector and promote local food production.
The Feed Ghana Programme seeks to support farmers with improved seeds, modern farming techniques, and access to essential inputs to boost productivity.
It also focuses on value addition, agro-processing, and market linkages to ensure sustainable food systems.
According to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the programme will create employment opportunities, enhance rural livelihoods, and reduce the country’s food import bill significantly.
The launch in Techiman, known as the food basket of Ghana, symbolizes the government’s commitment to harnessing the region’s agricultural potential.
Speaking at a press conference today, Mr Eric Opoku, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, said stakeholders from the agricultural sector, traditional authorities, and development partners are expected to attend the event.
