The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Abraham Koomson, has raised concerns over what he describes as the slow pace of prosecutions under the government’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative.

Speaking on Ahotor FM’s Yepe Ahunu show on Saturday, 13th September 2025, Mr. Koomson said that although the Attorney-General may be taking time to build strong cases, the prolonged delays risk undermining public confidence in the initiative.

He stressed that visible and decisive action was necessary to reassure Ghanaians that the campaign to recover stolen state funds was still on course.

“ORAL played a big role in helping the NDC come to power, and it is taking too long for prosecutions to begin,” Mr. Koomson warned, cautioning that inaction could erode the credibility of the government’s anti-corruption drive.

While acknowledging assurances from the Presidency that the cases are being handled, the labour leader urged the Attorney-General’s office to provide regular updates to keep the public informed.

“There should be something for the people to know that progress is being made.

If they are not hearing anything, it becomes worrying,” he added.

Mr. Koomson emphasised that the success of ORAL would be measured not only by investigations but also by timely prosecutions that demonstrate accountability.
