TAGG calls for urgent procurement of modern presidential aircraft

The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) has raised strong concerns over the recent travel challenges faced by President John Mahama, calling for the immediate procurement of a modern presidential aircraft to guarantee his safety and uphold Ghana’s dignity on the international stage.
In a statement signed by its General Secretary, TAGG said the inconveniences and risks associated with unreliable airline arrangements have become a matter of national security.
The group stressed that protecting the President is synonymous with safeguarding Ghana’s sovereignty and future.
“Ghana cannot afford another tragedy before taking action.
The Presidency must be safeguarded at all costs,” the statement read, adding that frequent travellers such as traders understand the frustrations and trauma of unreliable airline services.
TAGG urged both the Government and Parliament of Ghana to take bold decisions despite current economic challenges.
The group emphasised that any procurement must ensure value for money, warning against the acquisition of outdated or substandard aircraft that could endanger lives.
The advocacy group further noted that Ghana, blessed with resources such as gold, oil, and other minerals, should not struggle to provide a safe and dignified mode of travel for its President.
“The President’s safety is non-negotiable, and Ghana’s dignity must be upheld internationally. The aircraft must serve as a national asset, not a partisan tool,” TAGG stated
