Vice President donates food items to Muslim communities in Central Region for Ramadan

The Vice President of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has donated food items to Muslim communities across the Central Region in support of their Ramadan fasting.
The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Eduamoah Okyere, alongside NDC party executives, presented the donations on behalf of the Vice President.
During the presentation at the Cape Coast Central Mosque, the Minister urged Muslims to pray for President John Dramani Mahama and his administration as they work towards national development.
He assured the Muslim community that the NDC government remains committed to fulfilling its promises, including policies aimed at improving their welfare.
In addition to the donations, the Minister appealed to the Muslim community to prioritize cleanliness to help combat the cholera outbreak in the Central Region.
He noted that the government has spent a significant amount of money on cholera-related healthcare within the first three months of taking office, which could have been used for developmental projects.
He, therefore, called on residents to adopt proper hygiene practices to prevent further outbreaks, emphasizing that funds meant for development should not be diverted to sanitation emergencies.
Speaking on behalf of the Muslim community, the Central Regional Zongo Chief Imam, Alhaji Mahamud Dandy IV, expressed gratitude to Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and the NDC government for their continued support.
He assured the Vice President that the Muslim community would remain committed to supporting her administration in achieving its goals.
The Chief Imam also pledged to educate the Muslim community on healthy living and sanitation to help eliminate cholera in the region.
He emphasized that cleanliness is a core Islamic value, and they would work towards maintaining a hygienic environment in their communities.
