COVID-19: Ghana receives 1m more J&J vaccine doses
Ghana, on Wednesday, 8 December 2021, received one million more doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines.
The vaccines were received from the United States government under the COVAX facility and are expected to augment the government’s mass vaccination exercise throughout the month of December.
The US has donated 5.3 million vaccine doses to Ghana since September.
At a brief ceremony to receive the vaccines at the Kotoka International Airport were US Ambassador to Ghana Stephanie Sullivan, the government of Denmark, and Ghana’s Ministry of Health.
The US ambassador assured Ghanaians of the safety of the doses and urged them to get vaccinated.
She said: "Now is the time for Ghanaians to get their jabs".
"The vaccines, donated on behalf of the American people, are here".
"These doses are the same safe and effective vaccines used in the United States".
"We can beat this pandemic together, but it starts with each eligible person getting their jab."
The Ghana Health Service(GHS) has declared December as a month of vaccination against COVID-19.
