E/R: Kwahu West records first Mpox case

The Kwahu West Municipality in the Eastern Region has confirmed its first case of Mpox, sparking concern among residents.
Municipal Health Director, Celestine Asante, has, however, assured the public that the situation is under control and all necessary measures are being implemented to prevent further spread.
“We understand the concern and fear this news may bring, but we are fully prepared to handle the situation,” she stated.
“Our team is working diligently to trace contacts, and with the public’s cooperation, we are confident we can contain this outbreak.”
She advised residents to avoid close contact with others during this period, including refraining from kissing, sharing personal items, or sleeping on another person’s bed or pillow.
Such measures, she stressed, could significantly reduce the risk of transmission.
Ms. Asante also emphasised the importance of proper hygiene, urging regular handwashing with soap under running water, especially after using the bathroom and before eating.
She further encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any symptoms of Mpox promptly to health authorities.
