Frank Owusu Sekyere appointed Acting CEO of Korle Bu as Opoku Ampomah’s tenure ends
Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital will officially end on Saturday, 4 October 2024, following the completion of his four-year term.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Thursday, 6 October 2024, signed by the Board Chairman of the hospital, Dr. David Nkansa-Dwamena.
According to the statement, Dr. Frank Owusu Sekyere, the Director of Medical Affairs, will take over as interim CEO effective October 6, 2024, while a permanent replacement is determined by the appointing authority.
The Board praised Dr. Ampomah’s remarkable leadership and unwavering dedication to advancing the hospital’s mission of providing high-quality healthcare.
His efforts, the Board noted, were instrumental in driving Korle Bu towards new heights of excellence.
Dr. Ampomah, a renowned Consultant Plastic Surgeon, has had a distinguished career, most notably serving as the Director of the National Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre.
His contributions to the medical field, particularly in reconstructive surgery, have left a profound impact on both Korle Bu and the wider healthcare sector in Ghana.
During his leadership, Korle Bu experienced significant growth and development, with Dr. Ampomah’s vision for improving healthcare delivery leaving a lasting legacy.
