In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund is partnering with Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and ADB Ghana Medical Systems to deliver a state-of-the-art Catheterisation (Cath) Laboratory aimed at enhancing advanced cardiac care in the country.

The facility, once completed, will enable life-saving heart and blood vessel treatments without the need for open surgery, significantly improving emergency response times for heart attacks, strokes and other complex cardiovascular conditions.

With the core structure of the Cath Lab already in place, attention has now shifted to refurbishing the facility and installing modern, specialised medical equipment.

Preparations are also underway to equip medical personnel with the required expertise, including hands-on training programmes abroad.

The Administrator of the Fund, Madam Obuobia Darko-Opoku, said the project is on track for completion by March, after which advanced cardiac care services will once again be accessible to patients at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare delivery and saving lives through strategic investments in critical medical infrastructure, noting that the Cath Lab project reflects its broader mission of ensuring quality and timely healthcare for all Ghanaians.
