Ghana signs MoU with Africa CDC to strengthen pandemic preparedness and health security
Ghana has taken a significant step toward bolstering its healthcare system with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).
The agreement aims to enhance data sharing and coordination in pandemic preparedness and response across the continent.
Announcing the development at a press briefing in Accra, Minister of Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh said the move marks a new chapter in Ghana’s efforts to establish resilient health systems capable of responding swiftly and effectively to disease outbreaks.
“This partnership is a strategic investment in our collective health security.
Ghana is committed to putting in place robust systems to not only protect our citizens but to contribute meaningfully to the health and safety of the West African sub-region,” the Minister stated.
He also called for stronger collaboration among African nations, stressing that unity is crucial in achieving long-term, continent-wide health security.
Speaking on behalf of the visiting delegation, Director-General of the Africa CDC, Dr. Jean Kaseya, expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the strides his administration is making in strengthening Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure.
Dr. Kaseya lauded Ghana's proactive approach and pledged the Africa CDC’s continued support to ensure the success of the partnership.
