Nana Aba Anamoah commends Bawumia for free dialysis initiative
Renowned broadcast journalist Nana Aba Anamoah has commended the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for his recent announcement of free dialysis treatment for kidney patients under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Her praise for the initiative was shared on X formerly known as Twitter on Monday, 11 November, where she applauded the decision as a significant relief for many Ghanaians facing the high cost of kidney treatment.
Dr Bawumia, the flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), made the announcement on Sunday, 10 November, pledging that the new policy will come into effect on 1 December 2024.
The move has been received positively by the public, especially among patients and advocates who have been calling for more accessible healthcare solutions.
In her X post, Nana Aba highlighted the importance of the initiative, expressing that the policy would reduce the burden on individuals suffering from kidney disease and their families.
She noted that dialysis costs have been a heavy financial strain on many Ghanaians, and Dr Bawumia’s initiative is a welcome change for a critical health service.
"I’m beyond excited that from December 1, dialysis treatment in Ghana will be free under NHIS! Gosh! This is a huge relief for patients who’ve struggled with costs for so long."
"Thank you! Thank you, @MBawumia, for making this essential care accessible to all," she posted.
