The Oforikrom Constituency branch of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region has donated GHS 18,200 to support a life-saving throat surgery for 18-month-old Manasse Adusei.

The donation, drawn from the constituency’s coffers, was made with additional support from the Women’s Organiser hopeful, Madam Afia Brayie, and Dr Atta Aidoo, following an urgent appeal from the child’s family.

Medical specialists at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital diagnosed Manasse with a severe throat condition requiring immediate surgical intervention at St Augustine’s Hospital.

The total cost of the surgery was estimated at GHS 20,000, an amount the child’s parents were unable to raise on their own.

The funds presented by the NDC cover the bulk of the medical expenses, leaving an outstanding balance of GHS 1,800.

Presenting the donation, Oforikrom Constituency Chairman, Mr Amidu Gariba, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of its constituents, stressing that the NDC remains responsive to the needs of vulnerable members of the community.

Madam Afia Brayie also highlighted the importance of prioritising the health and survival of the child, describing the intervention as a humanitarian responsibility.

The child’s father, Mr William Adusei, expressed profound gratitude to the NDC leadership and supporters for their timely assistance, noting that the donation has brought renewed hope to the family.

He appealed to other benevolent individuals and organisations to help raise the remaining amount to ensure the surgery proceeds as scheduled.
