Potholes on Korle Bu road pose danger to patients, motorists – Public cries out for urgent repairs
The road in front of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has deteriorated into a danger zone, with deep potholes causing traffic congestion, vehicle damage, and serious safety risks for patients and emergency vehicles.
Motorists plying the route say they are forced to dangerously swerve to avoid the craters, creating gridlock at peak hours and increasing the likelihood of accidents. Commercial drivers and private car owners also report frequent damage to suspensions and tyres.
Health advocates and road users say the situation is particularly alarming given that Korle Bu is Ghana’s premier referral hospital and a lifeline for thousands of patients daily.
“It is very dangerous for ambulances to use that road, especially during emergencies,” a concerned commuter stated. “Korle Bu Road being the lifeline of many patients can’t be in a situation like this.”
The public is now appealing to government and the Ministry of Roads and Highways to intervene immediately and rehabilitate the stretch.
“We call on the government and the Ministry of Roads and Highways to come in and get the road fixed for the betterment of the country and the hospital as well.
