A/R: NDC Chairman warns Wontumi against coercion tactics
Mr Augustus Nana Kwasi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a strong warning to Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, cautioning him against any further attempts to force NDC members into wearing New Patriotic Party (NPP) branded t-shirts.
Speaking at the NDC’s campaign launch in the Tafo-Pankrono Constituency Sunday, Nana Kwasi threatened severe consequences, including potential gunshots, should the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP continue with such actions.
His remarks followed a campaign walk through the streets of the Constituency.
Nana Kwasi accused Chairman Wontumi of previously trying to coerce NDC members into wearing NPP attire and vowed to resist any further attempts.
He also claimed that the NPP's campaign in the Ashanti Region has lost momentum, leading to what he described as desperate tactics.
During the event, Nana Kwasi highlighted key NDC policies, including a proposed "24-hour economy" and a "Women Development Bank," aimed at fostering development.
The NDC’s National Vice Chairman, Mr . Samuel Sarpong, also criticized the NPP for disappointing the Ashanti Region, accusing the ruling party of attempting to win favour through last-minute road construction projects.
He urged voters in the region to change their voting patterns and choose the NDC, which he said has a track record of consistent development in the area.
Lawyer Sahmudeen Mohammed Kamil, the NDC's Parliamentary Candidate for the Tafo-Pankrono Constituency, echoed these sentiments, encouraging constituents to support the NDC for continued progress and growth in the region.
