Ashanti Region hosts second “Momentum Walk” with strong message against drug abuse

The Ashanti Region came alive this past weekend as it played host to the second edition of the Momentum Walk, a youth-driven initiative championed by the 18Plus4NDC movement led by Bridget Bonnie.
This quarter’s walk, dubbed the Politico-Traditional Walk, brought together tradition, activism, and political engagement in a vibrant and meaningful way.
Participants, many dressed in rich NDC attire with rich traditional colours, walked from the Aboabo Post Office to the NDC Regional Office, engaging the community along the way with conversations about policy, leadership, and national development.
A significant feature of this edition was a strong campaign against illicit drug abuse, a growing concern that continues to threaten the lives of many young Ghanaians.
The walk served not only as a call to action but as a reminder that safeguarding the future begins with empowering the youth.
“The future of Ghana depends on the strength of our youth, and we cannot afford to lose them to drugs,” said Bridget Bonnie, Founder of 18Plus4NDC.
In addition to advocacy and community engagement, the walk also served as a platform to highlight the work of the current administration.
“We used this opportunity to share updates on what the government is currently doing, and what plans are underway for the benefit of the Ghanaian people,” stated Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister.
The event also reinforced an important distinction: while the NDC is in power and has formed a government, the party itself remains active, continuing to run its grassroots activities, energise its base, and maintain strong connections with the people.
The organisers expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Amoakohene for hosting the walk and to the Ashanti Regional NDC leadership for their massive support and partnership.
