Asiedu Nketia threatens legal action over doctored Free SHS videotape
The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has vowed to take legal action against media outlets airing a doctored video falsely attributed to him.
The manipulated footage claims that he promised to cancel the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme if the NDC returns to power.
Speaking during a campaign stop in Atasemanso in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Nketia refuted the allegations, accusing the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of fabricating the video for political gain.
He challenged the media outlets involved to "meet me in court," describing their actions as defamatory and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
"I have never said the NDC would cancel the Free SHS programme," Mr. Nketia clarified.
"What I stated is that the double-track system, which has created numerous challenges, will be abolished under an NDC government to improve the quality of education."
He further accused the NPP of relying on the Free SHS programme as their sole campaign message, asserting that the government has failed to deliver on other critical promises to Ghanaians.
Mr. Nketia urged the public to disregard the doctored videotape and support the NDC in the upcoming elections, promising that an NDC-led administration would address the inefficiencies within the Free SHS programme and implement broader policies to enhance Ghana’s educational sector.
He reiterated the NDC’s commitment to responsible governance and called on voters to reject the NPP for its mismanagement and divisive tactics
