Bawumia hails record job creation under NPP, vows more jobs for youth if elected
The flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has highlighted the Akufo-Addo administration’s achievements in job creation at a youth-focused event in Accra on Sunday, 3 November 2024.
According to the NPP flagbearer, the Akufo-Addo-led government has made unprecedented strides in employment since 2017.
Dr. Bawumia cited data from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and other sources, claiming the government created 2.6 million jobs over the past seven years, 1.4 million in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector, a figure he described as “the highest job creation by any government in the Fourth Republic.”
“We have done a remarkable job in creating jobs in the last seven years.
“Between 2017 and 2024… we have created 2.6 million jobs," Dr. Bawumia noted, expressing confidence in the administration’s economic efforts and affirming that, if elected, he would continue to prioritize employment to address the youth unemployment challenge.
Admitting the economic difficulties Ghana faces, Dr. Bawumia reassured Ghanaians of his focus on solutions and job expansion for young Ghanaians.
“We have more to do because we still have high unemployment. Our youth still need jobs,” he said, pledging that job creation would remain central to his administration’s vision if he wins the presidency in December.
