Chief of Staff rallies support for NDC ahead of Akwatia by-election

The Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah, on Sunday led a high-powered National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegation to Akwatia as part of efforts to boost support for the party’s parliamentary candidate, Mr Bernard Bediako Baidoo, ahead of the September 2 by-election.
The visit drew hundreds of enthusiastic supporters and residents, who welcomed the delegation with drumming, dancing, and chants of party slogans, turning the event into a charged show of unity and growing momentum for the NDC in the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Debrah reaffirmed the party’s commitment to grassroots development, promising that long-standing concerns over poor road infrastructure, youth unemployment, and under-resourced health facilities would be prioritised under an NDC-led government.
“We are not here just to win an election; we are here because the NDC believes in the people of Akwatia,” he said.
“This by-election is a defining moment to choose leadership that listens, responds, and delivers.”
He also praised the Parliamentary Candidate, Mr Baidoo, describing him as a humble and visionary leader with deep roots in the constituency and a proven record of service.
As part of the tour, the delegation paid a courtesy call on traditional leaders, where Mr. Debrah assured them of the party’s commitment to working closely with chiefs and opinion leaders to drive sustainable development in Akwatia.
The chiefs, in turn, welcomed the message but urged all political actors to ensure peaceful campaigning and elections before, during, and after the polls.
