DVLA boss to appear before Special Prosecutor on October 31 over bribery allegations
The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, has confirmed receipt of an official letter from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) inviting him for questioning in connection with ongoing investigations into an alleged bribery attempt.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Mr. Kotey disclosed that the letter from the OSP was received at 11:00 a.m. and that he has scheduled to honour the invitation on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
The OSP’s invitation follows Mr. Kotey’s recent public revelation that he rejected a GH₵4 million bribe from unnamed individuals who allegedly sought to influence the rollout of the Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) Policy.
Mr. Kotey has maintained that his integrity “is not for sale” and reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and accountability in public service.
The OSP is expected to interrogate the DVLA boss as part of its efforts to verify the authenticity of the bribery claims and identify the individuals behind the alleged attempt.
This development has drawn significant public attention, as the DVLA’s new digitalised plate policy is a major government initiative aimed at curbing vehicle-related fraud and improving road safety across Ghana
