The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Andrew Amoako Asiamah, has called on Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and Members of Parliament (MPs) to put aside political differences after elections and work together for the nation’s development.

Speaking during a public hearing on the performance of MMDCEs nationwide, organised by Parliament’s Local Government and Rural Development Committee, Mr. Asiamah underscored the need for collaboration and mutual respect between political actors.

He stressed that sustainable national development can only be achieved through unity, teamwork, and a shared commitment to service.

Mr. Asiamah particularly commended Mr Charles Kofi Obgeh, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Adansi North District and a former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Fomena, for maintaining a cordial and productive working relationship with him.

According to him, their cooperation has yielded significant developmental gains in the district.

Adding her voice, the Chairperson of the Committee, Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyer, urged all political leaders to rise above partisanship and focus on the collective mission of building Ghana.

She emphasised that national progress depends on unity, not division, and that every stakeholder—regardless of political background—has a role to play in advancing the welfare of “Mother Ghana.”
