Dr. Bryan Acheampong has outlined a vision centred on discipline, accountability and grassroots empowerment as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) works to regroup and reposition itself for the future.

Speaking in a wide-ranging interview on Accra-based Okay FM, the former Minister stressed that effective leadership must be rooted in fairness and the courage to enforce party rules without fear or favour.

“A leader should be bold enough to call out even his most ardent supporter if he or she steps out of line,” Dr. Acheampong said.

“People must be accountable for their words and actions, and the rules must apply fairly and squarely to everyone, irrespective of status.”

According to him, restoring internal discipline is essential to rebuilding public confidence in the party and strengthening its internal cohesion.

Dr. Acheampong described grassroots members as the backbone of the NPP, insisting that their empowerment is critical to the party’s revival.

“The grassroots are not just voters; they are the lifeblood of our party,” he said.

“Empowering them means giving them a voice in decision-making, resources to organise, and respect for their sacrifices.

If the base is strong, the party will never fall.”

He cautioned against what he termed “political theatrics” aimed at disguising weak campaigns, arguing that endorsements and opinion polls are sometimes used as psychological tools rather than genuine indicators of strength.

“I am not a novice in this game,” he said. “I understand that sometimes campaigns that are struggling employ psychological operations to prop themselves up.

I can tell a psy-ops when I see one.”

On governance, Dr. Acheampong said discipline must be balanced with compassion and anchored in accountability to be effective.

“Discipline ensures order, compassion ensures humanity, and accountability ensures trust,” he explained.

“My military background taught me discipline, my faith taught me compassion, and my public service taught me accountability. Together, they form the firewall that protects good governance.”

He also outlined a broader national vision anchored in unity, opportunity and global respect.

“I see a Ghana where discipline drives governance, where jobs are abundant, where the youth feel empowered, and where unity replaces division,” he said. “A Ghana that is respected globally and trusted locally.”

Dr. Acheampong expressed confidence in his leadership ambitions within the party, declaring his readiness to enforce discipline should he emerge victorious.

“I will win on 31st January, and from 1st February 2026, I will restore discipline in the party,” he said.
