Klottey Korle petitions Speaker Bagbin to deal with 'daughter of murderer' comment against their MP

A delegation from the Klottey Korle Constituency have presented a petition to Parliament decrying reproachful comments recently made against their representative, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings.
They petitioned Speaker Alban S. K. Bagbin to investigate and deal with the matter urgently.
The Clerk to Parliament, Mr Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, received the petition.
On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, while Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin was on the floor of Parliament, a loud voice from that caucus was heard asking Dr Agyeman-Rawlings of the Majority caucus to sit down, calling her the daughter of a murderer in the process.
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has strongly condemned the comment, telling the national broadcaster GBC, “We will investigate it and take a very stern action on it.”
Meanwhile, Damongo MP Samuel Abu Jinapor has vehemently denied being the voice that uttered the concerning words.
Speaking to the media, he said anyone who was well-acquainted with his public life and career would know “I don’t speak in that nature, I don’t speak in that manner”.
Madam Zanetor is the daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, whose coming to power was marked by a bloody coup (1979). Originally, a revolutionist, the polarising figure left office (2000) as a democrat and beloved statesman.
