MP demands apology from social media users over false link to late Samuel Aboagye’s widow
The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo in the Ashanti Region, Mr Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has issued a strong ultimatum to four social-media users, demanding they retract and apologise for what he describes as “malicious and defamatory” claims linking him to the widow of the late Samuel Aboagye.
In a letter dated November 13, 2025, and signed by his lawyer, Stephen Nsiah Opoku Esq. of Kulendi@Law, Mr. Assafuah warned the individuals — identified as Onasis Rosely, Ahema Afriyie, Francis Papa Adjetey, and Joyce, also known as Honourable Dee Dee — to pull down the offensive posts and issue an unqualified apology within 12 hours, or face legal action.
The letter, sighted by Classfmonline.com, accuses the said individuals of deliberately spreading false and damaging information on Instagram and other social platforms to tarnish the MP’s image.
“My client’s attention has been drawn to reckless defamatory statements published by you on social media,” the letter read in part.
“You sought to tarnish my client’s hard-earned reputation through false narratives intended to cause disaffection against him.”
The statement further warned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe would compel the MP’s legal team to pursue punitive and compensatory damages through the courts.
Mr. Assafuah, who doubles as a former spokesperson for the Education Ministry, is known for his active presence in both political and social circles.
