N/R: Mahama pledges road, education upgrades in Chereponi
The flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has embarked on his campaign in Ghana’s Northern Region, pledging infrastructure improvements to address the community's pressing needs.
Mr. Mahama’s campaign kicked off in Chereponi, where he was welcomed with appeals from local leaders for better road networks and educational facilities.
The Chief of Chereponi, represented by spokesperson Musah Nanyame, highlighted the community’s struggle with poor roads, particularly the critical Saboba-Chereponi route, which is in a state of disrepair.
The Chief conveyed the community’s desire for a technical institution to address the educational gaps for young people.
He noted that development projects in the area had stalled since Mr. Mahama’s exit from office in 2017, leaving Chereponi with unfulfilled infrastructure needs.
Addressing residents, Mr. Mahama expressed disappointment over the neglected roads and assured locals of his commitment to their development should he return to office.
According to Mr. Mahama, he can attest to the terrible state of the roads in the area having used them too.
He promised that Chereponi would see its fair share of road improvements in his next administration.
