NPP calls for unity and rebuilding after party’s defeat at 2024 polls
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a statement affirming its stance following the outcome 2024 general elections in Ghana.
Signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the release shows immense appreciation to national, regional, and constituency party officials, as well as polling station executives, members, and volunteers who worked tremendously during the campaign.
It however acknowledges the deep disappointment shared by its members over the electoral results, which did not favour the party.
The party also stated the need for unity, rebuilding, and strategic planning to move forward.
To achieve this, the NPP has started consensus engagements to investigate the election outcomes and reorganise internal processes.
The NPP leadership also pleaded to its members to stay calm while they give constructive feedback through appropriate channels.
Again, the statement condemned “criminal acts” and irresponsible behaviour by members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The NPP accused the NDC of attempting to overturn parliamentary results through acts of intimidation and destruction at collation centres.
The NPP also expressed disappointment with the Ghana Police Service, criticizing what it called a sluggish response to these incidents.
The party called on Ghanaians to stop any form of unlawful act, pointing out that these actions damage the peace and values of the country.
While expressing concern over the effects of these developments, the statement reaffirmed the NPP's commitment to upholding democracy and ensuring Ghana’s progress.
