NPP refers Adwoa Safo to Disciplinary Committee after JoyNews interview

Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency in the Greater Accra Region and ex-Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has been referred to the Disciplinary Committee of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) following remarks she made during a recent interview on JoyNews.
The decision comes after concerns were raised about statements made by the former MP, which some party members believe could be detrimental to the party’s image and unity.
Adwoa Safo, who lost her bid to contest the Dome-Kwabenya parliamentary seat in the last elections, has in recent times been vocal about her experiences within the party, particularly regarding events leading to her removal as Minister and her absence from Parliament.
While details of the specific issues under investigation remain unclear, sources indicate that the party's leadership is keen on addressing internal grievances to maintain cohesion ahead of the 2028 general elections.
The Disciplinary Committee is expected to review the matter and determine the appropriate action.
Sarah Adwoa Safo served as MP for Dome-Kwabenya for three consecutive terms before losing her re-election bid in the NPP parliamentary primaries.
Her recent public commentary has reignited discussions about the treatment of party members and the challenges faced by women in political leadership.
