NPP's Savanna Chair engages media ahead of Saturday polls
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Savanna Regional Chairman, Alhaji Suleman Iddrisu, affectionately called Professor Kalamonia, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Damongo, engaged journalists in the region and urged them to be circumspect during and after the December 7 polls.
He emphasized the need for on-air moderators and reporters of radio stations in the region to avoid misinformation and disinformation during the election period.
He highlighted the vital role of the media in nation-building and advised journalists to desist from disseminating fake news, which could heighten tensions.
“As journalists, you have a crucial role to play, and it is critical for you to be cautious during and after the December 7 polls to ensure a peaceful outcome. Please avoid sensationalism to promote and maintain the peace we are enjoying,” he said.
Law and Order Enforcement
Alhaji Suleman Iddrisu called for strong collaboration between the leadership of various political parties and law enforcement agencies to mount a coordinated response to any untoward incidents.
He further urged security personnel to act swiftly and professionally in dealing with troublemakers at polling stations.
The chairman encouraged eligible voters in the region to prioritize the elections and go to the polling stations early to avoid long queues.
