Reject candidates campaigning on religious grounds – Mahama tells Ghanaians
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is calling on Ghanaians to resist political campaigns that promote religious discrimination, warning that such divisive tactics could threaten the peaceful coexistence that the country enjoys.
Speaking at a rally in Kumbungu as part of his campaign tour, NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama emphasized that the focus of the upcoming elections should be on issues that promote national development and progress, not on religious grounds.
Mahama expressed concern over the increasing trend of some political figures campaigning based on religious affiliation, describing this as a serious threat to Ghana’s unity.
He urged citizens to reject any divisive messaging that could erode the cohesion within Ghanaian society.
“The elections should be about the issues that drive development and prosperity for all Ghanaians,” Mahama stated, encouraging voters to prioritize policies over religious distinctions.
He further highlighted the NDC's commitment to development across all regions of Ghana without discrimination, urging voters to recognize the party’s record of inclusive progress.
Mahama concluded by encouraging all Ghanaians to stand against religious discrimination in politics, underscoring the importance of unity as the nation approaches the polls.
