Tema East MP coordinates emergency water supply for Manhean SHTS amid pipeline disruption
The Member of Parliament for Tema East, Mr. Isaac Ashai Odamtten, has coordinated an emergency response to address an acute water shortage at Manhean Senior High Technical School at Tema Manhean in the Greater Accra Region.
The intervention follows disruptions in water supply to parts of the Tema enclave after a technical fault affected one of the main pipelines of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) within the Tema catchment area.
Mr. Odamtten has been closely monitoring the situation and engaging relevant stakeholders to reduce the impact of the outage on residents and essential institutions.
In response to the severe difficulties faced by the school, the MP facilitated the immediate delivery of 30,000 litres of water to Manhean Senior High Technical School to ease the situation and safeguard the welfare of students and staff.
The water supply was delivered in two phases. An initial 10,000 litres was supplied on the morning of Wednesday, January 21, followed by an additional 20,000 litres later in the afternoon.
The operation was made possible through the collaboration of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), which released its water tanker, and the Tema New Town Fire Service Station, which provided access to key water hydrant installations to support the exercise.
The temporary intervention has helped stabilise the situation at the school, providing immediate relief while efforts continue to restore the normal water supply.
Mr. Odamtten has expressed concern about the wider impact of the water disruption in the constituency and said he is in active discussions with GWCL officials to fast-track a permanent solution to the pipeline fault.
The MP commended GWCL for its ongoing repair works and appealed for the swift restoration of services.
He also expressed appreciation to the Tema Metropolitan Assembly and the Tema New Town Fire Service Station for their prompt support.
The Office of the Member of Parliament for Tema East reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of constituents and assured the public that further updates would be provided as the situation develops.
