Trade Minister assures revamp of 'struggling' Komenda Sugar Factory

The Minister for Trade and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has assured Ghanaians of the government's commitment to revamping the struggling Komenda Sugar Factory in the Central Region.
Speaking after a tour of the facility, the Minister emphasized that operationalizing the factory is crucial to the government's 24-hour economy agenda.
She noted that a comprehensive evaluation would be conducted to assess the extent of damage and determine the cost of rehabilitation.
According to her, reviving the Komenda Sugar Factory aligns with the government's industrialization drive and will create jobs, boost local sugar production, and reduce import dependence.
On his part, the Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina- Eguafo -Abirem Constituency(KEEA), Samuel Atta Mills also expressed the government’s commitment to see the Komenda Sugar Factory back to life to create the needed jobs for the locals in the area.
