V/R: NDC thanks President Mahama for faithfulness to Akosombo Dam spillage, tidal wave victims
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region has extended “its deepest appreciation to H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic,” calling him “a true statesman and promise-keeper”.
In a Thursday, March 13, 2025, statement, signed by Comrade Mawutor Agbavitor, NDC Volta Regional Chairman, said President Mahama had “once again” demonstrated “his unwavering commitment to the people of the Volta Region.
“His dedication to fulfilling his campaign and manifesto promises is evident in his decisive action to allocate substantial funding to support victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage and the devastating tidal waves that struck the Ketu South Constituency.
“In the budget recently presented by Hon. Casiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister, President Mahama allocated a lifeline package of GHC242.5 million to assist individuals and families affected by the induced Akosombo Dam spillage. Furthermore, he made an additional strategic allocation of GHC200 million to provide relief and support for the resilient people of Agavedzi, Amutsinu, Salakope and Adina, who have over the years endured the brunt of the tidal waves in Ketu South and Keta.”
Dr Ato Forson presented the 2025 Budget to Parliament on Tuesday, March 11.
The statement continued, “These bold and compassionate interventions reaffirm his deep concern for the well-being of our people and his determination to restore dignity and hope to affected communities.
“The Volta NDC has meticulously examined the budget and has no doubt that President Mahama’s policies are bold, visionary, sensitive and people-centered, aimed at resetting Ghana’s economy while alleviating the hardships of ordinary citizens. His actions are a powerful testament to his unwavering commitment to governance that prioritises human development, economic resilience, and social justice.”
“Once again, we express our heartfelt gratitude to H.E. John Dramani Mahama for keeping the Volta Region at the center of his development agenda. His leadership continues to inspire hope, build trust, and reignite confidence in a government that truly listens and delivers on its promises,” the statement concluded.
