V/R: Our people are hungry for dev’t, let's rise above litigation – Edem Agbana urges traditional leaders

The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Volta Region, Eric Edem Agbana, has expressed deep concern over persistent chieftaincy disputes and land litigation issues in some communities within the constituency.
He said disputes and litigation were major hindrances to development in the area, advocating a resolution for them.
Addressing the people and traditional leaders of Ketu North during the confirmation of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) nominee Rev Martin Amenaki, Edem Agbana appealed to the traditional leaders to unite and rise above litigation and individual differences in order to pursue the interest of the municipality to bring development for the people.
“The unrest, land litigation, and chieftaincy issues in some communities within the municipality is affecting the development of the area, making it difficult for political authorities to implement development projects without being targeted as taking sides,” he said.
“Sometimes we want to pursue development, invite investors, implement good development policies or initiate infrastructural projects within communities but the unresolved chieftaincy dispute makes it difficult and ties our hands.
“Our people are hungry for development. They want roads, schools, water and jobs. We cannot deliver these things if we are divided. I am, therefore, appealing to all chiefs especially those in areas with unresolved disputes to find a way to resolve them.”
He assured of his commitment to ensuring development and promised to work closely with the newly confirmed MCE to change the economic fortunes of the area through collaborative effort.
“As your MP, I am ready to go to every length to bring development to this constituency. But I need the full backing and support of our traditional leaders because if our chiefs are united, development of Ketu North is assured,” he declared.
