You can’t be a gangster and be part of the executive -Rachel Appoh advises A-plus
Former Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Rachel Nana Adwoa Appoh, has admonished the sitting Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Obeng Asare, popularly known as A-Plus, to abandon what she described as “gangsterism traits” and comport himself in a manner befitting a national leader.
According to her, the conduct of the MP is increasingly inconsistent with his role as a representative of the people of Gomoa Central and as a member of the executive.
Speaking on Accra-based CTV’s Oman Ghana Nkusuo morning show on Friday, January 16, 2026, hosted by Obaapa Yaa Titi, Ms Appoh stressed that one cannot combine gangsterism with leadership responsibilities.
“He must be told that he cannot be a gangster and be part of the executive. If he wants to be a gangster, he should be on the streets. If he wants to be a member of the executive, then he must behave as such,” she stated.
Ms Appoh also questioned the MP’s attitude on social media, particularly what she described as his gloating when some residents of his constituency were reportedly beaten.
The former Gomoa Central MP noted that the position of a Member of Parliament comes with the opportunity to positively transform one’s constituency, adding that projecting a gangster image does not advance that objective.
She further questioned how an individual could portray himself as a gangster while maintaining close relationships with the President and the Speaker of Parliament.
“I don’t have a problem with A-Plus,” she clarified, “but we are all pursuing different ambitions.”
