Assibey Antwi: NSS boss praises Bawumia for digitalisation ‘the effective way to stop corruption’

The Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Osei Assibey Antwi, has said digitalisation is the answer to the problem of bribery and corruption.
He spoke to Class Media Group's (CMG) Elisha Adarkwa, while touring the Ashanti, Bono and Ahafo regions to supervise the registration process for the 2024/2025 year..
Mr Assibey Antwi said because “we’ve been able to upgrade our system,” at the NSS, “if you’re not eligible to do the service, you cannot do it, and take allowances”.
“When you come to our office, we use the Ghana card and a software which compares you in person to what is on your card, records from your university attended, and all the others. The system flags anyone who presents false information,” he explained.
Thus, he emphasised: “Wherever I go, I say the right and effective way to stop corruption and lawlessness is through digitalisation.”
Mr Assibey Antwi praised the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, “for ensuring digitalisation, which the national service is using”.
He revealed the 2023/2024 batch of national service personnel were “more than 175,000” coming from “all the various universities including the technical; we post teachers, and nurses, also”.
“We’re expecting to cross more than 180,000 for the 2024/2025 batch,” he added.
