Members of two parliamentary select committees, the Subsidiary Legislation Committee; and Defence and Interior, have commended Margins ID Group and its subsidiary, Intelligent Card Production System (ICPS), for the successful implementation of the Ghana Card project.

During a visit to the factory operated by Margins Group on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the MPs lauded the company's efforts in producing the Ghana Card and gaining insights into its operations and the facility's 20-year history of manufacturing.

In his address, Moses Kwesi Baiden Jnr, the Founder and CEO of Margins ID Group outlined the government of Ghana's commitment to establishing a functional National Identification (ID) system. 

He emphasized the successful collaboration between Margins ID Group and the National Identification Authority (NIA) in registering over 85% of Ghana's adult population.

Mr Baiden Jnr also refuted claims of selling citizen data, affirming that the government owns the information accessed solely by the NIA.

During a presentation, Margin Group’s Chief Software Development Officer, Andrew Asamoah, highlighted the detection of thousands of fake national IDs in the system, underscoring the importance of their software in maintaining data integrity.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kwesi Attah Baiden elaborated on the issuance of unique numbers to newborns, emphasizing the initiative's role in preventing identity theft.

After the tour, the Chairman of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee, Dr. Dominic Ayine, expressed satisfaction with the factory's operations, noting the Ghana Card's multifunctionality and its benefits for fiscal stability, tax compliance, and social inclusion.

Vice-chair of the Defence and Interior Committee, Ophelia Mensah Hayford, echoed Ayine's sentiments, emphasizing the need for public education on the card's various uses.

Outgoing Deputy Minister for Energy, William Owuraku Aidoo, praised the demonstrations at the event, stating they dispelled misconceptions among MPs regarding the Ghana Card.

Margins ID Group, through its subsidiary ICPS, facilitated the Ghana Card project, holding certifications at the highest global standards and providing innovative identity solutions for over three decades.

The company envisions becoming a global leader in identification, data, and documentation systems, contributing to business growth and risk mitigation.
