2026 FIFA WC: James Appiah confident Black Stars will advance greatly beyond Group L
Former Black Stars head coach James Kwesi Appiah has expressed confidence that Ghana will progress beyond their group and make a strong impression at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to Akoma FM, Appiah said no team in Group L, which features Ghana, Panama, England and Croatia, is unbeatable, stressing that the Black Stars have every chance to advance.
He urged caution, however, noting that all four teams earned their places at the tournament on merit.
“All the teams in the group are beatable, and no team at the World Cup can be underrated,” the tactician said.
Appiah, who is currently head coach of Sudan, also highlighted the importance of fitness, expressing hope that injuries would not derail Ghana’s campaign.
“We pray that our players don’t sustain any injuries before or during the tournament. Nothing is impossible, and we can go far,” he added.
Ghana will be making their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance, with their 2026 campaign kicking off against Panama on June 17.
