Black Queens arrive in Morocco for pre-tournament camping ahead of WAFCON 2026
Ghana’s senior women’s national football team, the Black Queens, have arrived in Morocco to begin their final phase of preparations ahead of the 2026 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The delegation, made up of players, the technical team and management officials, touched down in Casablanca before moving to their residential camping base.
A total of 18 players have reported to camp, with head coach Kim Lars Björkegren and his technical team beginning preparations for the continental tournament. The remaining invited players are expected to join the squad in the coming days as the team builds towards full strength.
The pre-tournament camp forms part of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) preparations to help the team adapt to the local conditions and access quality training facilities for their final technical and tactical work.
During the camp, the technical team will focus on refining tactics, improving match fitness and strengthening team cohesion ahead of the start of the competition.
The Black Queens qualified for the tournament after a successful qualifying campaign and will compete in Group C, where they have been drawn against South Africa, Mali and Tanzania.
The GFA has reiterated its commitment to providing the necessary logistical support to ensure a smooth and productive camping period as the team finalises preparations for the tournament.
The tournament will take place between July 25, 2026 and August 16, 2026.
