Ghana’s Black Queens will face Algeria in the quarter-finals of the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after securing a second-place finish in Group C.

The Queens advanced to the knockout stage with four points from three matches, marking a strong comeback in the tournament after a six-year absence.

Their campaign began on a challenging note with a 2-0 loss to defending champions South Africa.

The team then salvaged a 1-1 draw against Mali in their second group fixture, keeping hopes of qualification alive.

Ghana sealed their quarter-final spot in emphatic fashion with a dominant 4-1 win over Tanzania in their final group match.

The victory proved decisive, lifting the Queens to second place in the group standings and securing a place in the last eight.

The crucial encounter against Algeria is set for Saturday, July 19, at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco.

As they return to WAFCON for the first time since 2018, the Black Queens are determined to make a deep run in the competition and reassert their status among Africa’s elite women’s football teams.
