E/R: U15 Girls Regional Colts League kicks off, boosting grassroots women’s football
The U15 Girls Regional Colts League has officially kicked off in the Eastern Region, signalling a promising start to the grassroots women’s football season under the FIFA League Development Programme.
All Matchday One fixtures were completed as scheduled, with teams showcasing competitive and spirited performances across the region.
Valued Girls FC began their campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Solid Rock FC, while Unick FC narrowly defeated Rootz Sistaz FC 1-0. Eufold Ladies FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Kotoku Rush Ladies FC, and Okyeman Girls FC closed the day with an emphatic 3-0 triumph over Obiri Mma FC.
The successful completion of the opening round reflects the growing organisation and commitment to grassroots football development in the region.
The opening ceremony featured a ceremonial kick-off by FIFA Technical Expert Thubaelihle Bridgette Sibandda, RFA Coordinator Daasebre Adu Asare, and Women’s Development Officer Jennifer Amankwa Sarpong, officially marking the start of the competition. Ms. Sibandda’s presence underscored FIFA’s continued support for youth and women’s football development in Ghana.
The U15 Girls Regional Colts League aims to provide young female players with regular competitive football, while fostering discipline, teamwork, and technical growth from an early age.
With the league now underway, focus shifts to the upcoming fixtures as teams continue their pursuit of success and development in a competition set to shape the future of women’s football in Ghana.
